As it was expected, the immediate past governor of Rivers State Hon. Rotimi Amechi has been screened by the Senate following his nomination as minister. The much anticipated screening of the lion of Niger-delta did not go without drama as opposition party PDP refused to ask him any question.
The reader will be interested if Amechi was the first Minister to be label with corruption charges. Petition / allegation of corruption is not equal to an indictment of the crime itself one wonders if the PDP caucus in the House has not compromise its standard by allowing an outsider to determine who becomes a minister of the federal Republic. The waiting games continue as Tuesday next week has been slated for his confirmation.
